The Oxbow-Masardis Snowmobile Club in 1987 by local lodge owners who saw the need for a recreational destination where snowmobilers can get away from crowded trails and enjoy “small town” hospitality. The trails are maintained from mid-December to the mid April. The average yearly snowfall ranges from 100 to 120 inches. In 2003 the club added a new facet of winter recreation with the inclusion of several miles of cross country ski trails. Snow shoeing is also popular in the area.

Oxbow, located in northeast Aroostook county is named for the oxbow shape of the Aroostook river as it winds its way through town on its way to New Brunswick, Canada. Oxbow has a year around population of around 60 residents. Our sister town, Masardis lies 5 miles north on state route 11. Masardis is best known to snowmobilers as the site of the Carl Sherman suspension bridge that spans the St Croix stream.

The Maine Interconnecting Trail System (ITS) routes ITS 85 and ITS 86 connect just south of Oxbow. Several miles of local club trails also provide an opportunity to observe the many forms of wildlife present in the north Maine woods.

The club trails are maintained by a 2007 Tucker Sno-Cat with a Mogul Master drag. Our groomer operators log around 500 hours annually.
